Greg, born with Cerebral Palsy, started powerlifting by contacting the Australian Paralympic Committee and spoke to one of the coaches and got an invitation to attend the 2011 State Championships.

Greg’s greatest sporting achievement was at the 2012 National Championships when he set the new Queensland Junior record of 110kg in the 90kg class. His sporting goal is to represent Australia as a Paralympics Powerlifter.

The grant that is being presented to Greg by Sporting Dreams will go towards gym fees so he can train, improve and move closer to his goal of being a Paralympian.

The motto that Greg lives by comes from a poem called Invictus, written by William Ernerst Henley in 1875, “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.” The advice that he would give to other athletes is, “in the early days of the sporting career is that your day off of training is the most important day of training. This is because as an athlete I know you can sometimes feel guilty not training but the biggest results come when you are taking your scheduled days off.”
