Brendan, 16, began playing goalball after being inspired by a visit to his school by national goalball representative Ben MacFie, and was invited to a trial session. Since taking up the sport, the Grandchester athlete has competed at the state championships and played for Queensland at the goalball national championships in 2013. Brendan is competing at the 2014 national titles in October and his aim is to eventually play goalball for Australia. Brendan has always been athletic, competing in both AFL and rugby before losing his sight two years ago. His advice to other athletes is “Always do your best.”
