Ben, 38, lost both his legs in the 2002 Bali bombings and has been successful in gold, winning 1st in his division in the 2013 Australian Amputee Golf Championships.

One of Ben’s coaches once said to him, “I can not believe you play the way you do with no legs. Its amazing.

Ben lost both of his legs in the 2002 Bali bombings and was encouraged to play golf as a viable form of rehabilitation and recreation.

Ben did not think that he would ever play sport again when he eventually returned home from the hospital after the bombings, but his first ever tournament, the Australian Amputee Golf Opens held in NSW in 2007 will be his greatest sporting achievement.

Ben has been successful in Golf, winning first and second in his division in the State and National Amputee Golf Championships in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

His current sporting goals will be to improve in golf so that he can be a contender, not just in his division, but to be the overall winner in state and national events. His long-term goals would to represent Australian playing Amputee Golf.

His advice in regards to Amputees is that life is not over when you receive an amputation and he likes to show them that life is about living and not wasting time wallowing in self-pity. It is about building your self- esteem and sense of worth, developing new skills and building new friendships.

Ben is competing at the NSW Championships for Amputee Golf on the 26th-28th of October and is getting new prosthetic legs after the competition in Sydney.
