Tracey, 46, aims to compete in the Paralympics in 2016 and to achieve this she will be attending all the Australian Cups in 2014 and aiming to improve her last score in the State Championships and in the Australia Cup final in November 2013.
Tracey has always had a fascination with shooting ever since she can remember and fired her first rifle in the mid 90’s and loved it. Muscular Dystrophy association also knew about her dream to shoot one day and in April 2013 she received an invitation to come and try by the Paralympics Association. Ever since then she has been shooting two nights a week.
Tracey was born with FSH Muscular Dystrophy and was first diagnosed when she was 16. However, this has not prevented her from taking up shooting and to try and get as far as she can while her body can allow her.
Her sporting goals for shooting are to make the Paralympics in Rio 2016 and to achieve this she will be competing in all Australian Cups in 2014. She aims to improve her last score in the State Championships and the Australian Cup final in November.
Tracey grew up in a family of Drag racers and raced amateur for about 5 years with her sporting achievement being runner up in the 1986 Ipswich Car Sales Award.
Her motto is that life is not over until it is over.
Tracey’s advice to other athletes is if you have a wish or a dream, get out there and try, ask and keep asking, you are the only one who can make it happen, do not wait for it to come to you. Anything is possible.
