Lakeisha, 15, has had a rapid rise in national and international swimming over the past 12 months, including winning bronze in the S8 100m freestyle at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and representing Australia at the 2014 Para Pan Pacific Championships in the US.
The Caboolture local, who has cerebral palsy, first began swimming to ease muscle pain and discovered she was good enough to start competing. She is aiming to represent Australia at the Rio 2016 Paralympics.
When she is not training, she teaches children with disabilities how to swim. Her motto is “Make it happen!”
